Jaeger-LeCoultre Initiates New Extension ProgramThe Jaeger-LeCoultre Company, one of the major economic players in the Vallee de Joux, has announced it is going to further extend in its history. The Manufacture site, currently covering over 16,000 square meters, will be enlarged by 9000 square meters by 2010. 
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Watch Manufacture located within a unique natural setting between lake and forests on Le Sentier's outskirts, is maintaining its historical roots, having decided to continue its development within its historical cradle. The brand is going to erect a new building to be linked to the original site by smartly designed architectural elements. The brand's fast growth has suggested the necessity of the extension project that is just a part of the long-range program.
Throughout its history, Jaeger-LeCoultre has greatly contributed to the economic growth of the Vallee de Joux, famous for its unspoilt scenery, located near the Joux Lake, right in the heart of the Swiss Jura mountains.
The original workshop of the company was established by Antoine LeCoultre. Overtime, the brand has won international appreciation for its cutting-edge watchmaking technologies and avant-garde philosophy.
Following the brand's foundation in 1833, Jaeger-LeCoultre has fulfilled a series of important extensions. The present-day continuous success of the brand required an acceleration in this pace. With the previous phase taken place 11 years ago, the brand is now planning the greatest extension in its history.
Jaeger-LeCoultre has become a major employer in the region, with its 1000-strong workforce, so the company has to pay particular attention to its social and environmental responsibilities.
The Manufacture integration with its natural setting has also been suggested by a concern for the human dimension. To improve the symbiosis between the company and the region's development, Jaeger-LeCoultre has taken the decision to double the number of apprenticeships as soon as the new workshops start to operate. The company will annually train almost forty new professionals.
